Security Specialist I - Day Shift (250003FF)DescriptionThe
Massachusetts Veterans Home at Chelsea (MVH) is a long-term care as
well as independent living domiciliary facility. We are currently
seeking qualified candidates for the role of Security Team
Specialist. This position entails ensuring and maintaining a 24/7
safe and secure environment for our Veteran residents across our
campus.DETAILED STATEMENT OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Patrols assigned campus buildings and adjacent areas on foot or
in a patrol vehicle to ensure the security of buildings and grounds
at the Veterans Home facility.
- Assures a safe and secure environment to individuals by
screening visitors, inspecting rooms, providing personal protection
to individuals as required; conducting surveillance; searching for
missing goods and persons; investigating complaints and reports of
suspicious activity; mediating disputes; and inspecting buildings,
grounds, fire lanes and emergency exits for compliance with safety
standards to ensure campus security.
- Investigates incidents by interviewing witnesses, victims, and
others.
- Enforces safety regulations by directing traffic, assisting
operators of disabled motor vehicles; assisting pedestrians in
crossing streets; composing and issuing parking violations;
composing and issuing violations to the agencies smoking policy and
arranging for snow removal or sanding to ensure the orderly flow of
traffic and prevent accidents.
- Operates such equipment as two-way radios, teletypes, facsimile
transmitters or receivers, base stations, public address systems,
emergency medical equipment, office machines.
- Performs related duties such as cooperating and sharing
information with other agencies, enforcing departmental and agency
policies and procedures notifying designated personnel of
emergencies; writing reports such as activity reports; maintaining
records on lost-and-found items, assisting in the evacuation of
residents; assisting in firefighting operations and raising and
lowering flags.QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED AT HIRE:

JOB:
- Knowledge of the types and uses of agency forms.
- Knowledge of the laws, rules, regulations, policies,
procedures, specifications, standards, and guidelines governing
assigned unit activities.
- Knowledge of the geographic composition of the assigned work
area.
- Knowledge of the proper telephone procedures for making and
