Position Summary:

The New England Regional Sales Manager will lead sales team to achieve overall sales and profitability targets within the Independent Pet Specialty channel.

The focus of the job is to :



  • Grow current customer base
  • Increase dollar share within existing customers
  • Grow and develop the sales team
  • Increase the number of customers who purchase from Phillips
  • Develop strong local Vendor and Customer relationships
  • Execute Company and Vendor sales plans
  • Lead and mentor regional associates to excel and conduct themselves with integrity in alignment with Phillips core

    values, policies and procedures


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


    • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company's policies and applicable laws.Responsibilities include determine staffing requirements, interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, directing work, plan and implement procedures and systems to maximize operating efficiencies; monitor and appraising staff performance, set goals and objectives; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Provides consistent performance feedback and dedicates appropriate time to developing skills of subordinates to maximize potential.
    • Evaluates current business processes and systems and makes recommendations for efficiency improvements and/or cost reductions
    • Review performance data (financial, sales and activity reports) to monitor and measure productivity, goal progress and activity levels
    • Ensure assigned region meets or exceeds monthly, quarterly and annual sales goals

      through partnering with key vendors and jointly developing and executing a detailed regional sales plan to stimulate incremental growth
    • Design and draft tailored presentations for all new customers
    • Provide overview of current in-store sales opportunities within core business.
    • Conduct regional sales meetings for their Territory Managers and key vendor training
    • Provide market analysis and develop plan to achieve stronger sales in core business;

      product selections, new items, etc.
    • Leads by example and always make the safe choice.Develops and maintains a safety culture that includes no recordable accidents and no loss time injuries.

      Corrects unsafe behavior and enforce all safety rules and regulations.Promotes and participates actively in all safety programs and activities and include everyone in your department.Ensures that all supervisors

      also lead by example, teach safety, and correct unsafe behavior.Eliminates any known safety hazards or as

      directed by the EH&S Specialist or safety committee.

      • Selling and influencing: demonstrates highly developed skills in selling to senior level managers within key customers, utilizing effective influencing and

        presentation skills
      • Strong analytical and organizational skills

      • Planning: A strong ability to strategically plan ahead, both short and long term
      • Merchandising: strong understanding of grocery merchandising concepts
      • Excellent time management and prioritization of multiple activities
      • Excellent communication skills
      • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner


        Highly skilled in business software and database applications

        Position Requirements:


        • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from an accredited four-year college or university




          • One to two years management experience
          • Minimum of five years of experience in a Sales and/or Logistic Manager's position managing complex accounts required
          • Experience managing key account budgets and and P&L statements
