RIThe primary purpose of this IT Support Consultant position is
providing Tier 2 infrastructure tech support, with a solid
knowledge of Windows domain, networking, configuration, and active
directory. Azure and Intune experience is highly desirable.Job
Description:Provides advanced application, operating system,
desktop and mobile hardware, audiovisual and other technology
support to the School of Engineering via a combination of onsite
assistance and remote troubleshooting/management tools.Remains
attentive to Engineering help tickets, phone calls, and walk-ins,
and effectively balances, prioritizes, and escalates issues with a
high degree of responsiveness and independence.Assist in the
onboarding and training of Helpdesk or other IT staff.Supervises,
coordinates and trains temps, interns, and student workers.Supports
projects and back-up/cross-coverage for colleagues sick/vacation
time.Other duties as required for the proper functioning of the
School of Engineering.Competencies:Experience supporting Windows
and OSX operating systems and productivity applications in use at
the School of Engineering.Troubleshooting skills for a host of
peripherals (printers, handheld devices, RM devices, card readers,
etc.)Knowledge of electronic software distribution tools such as
SMS/SCCM. JAMF, and ARD.Experience supporting computer users.Strong
computing, analytical, and organizational, project planning and
project management skills.Excellent customer service skills and
commitment to excellence.Understanding of the needs of users in an
academic environment; tact and sensitivity in dealing with a
diverse user community.Excellent coordination, collaboration,
written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work
independently, self-starter, as well as work effectively in a group
and as a member of a project team.Must be able to lift and carry 50
lbs. and set up computers when necessary.Education and
Experience:Bachelors degree preferred.Equivalent combination of
education and experience or commensurate experience (2 5 years
experience plus certification).2 3 years experience providing
desktop support in an IT Helpdesk environment; 1 or more of the
following certifications: RHCSA, RHCE, LPIC, CompTIA, MDAA,
HDI-CSR, HDI-DST, HDI-TSP, ITIL, ACSP, ACTC, ACMT or
ACHDS.Experience in higher education preferred.nextSource is proud
